Charles de Gaulle (CDG), also called Roissy, is the main international airport for Paris. It sits about 25 kilometres north-east of the city centre, and the drive to a central hotel normally takes 45 minutes to an hour, longer in the morning and evening rush.
CDG is large. Terminal 1, the Terminal 2 halls from 2A to 2G, and Terminal 3 are far apart, and finding a taxi rank, the RER B platform or a shuttle-bus stop after a long flight is where most arrivals lose time. The RER B train runs from CDG Terminals 1 and 2 to central Paris stations and is the cheapest option for one person with light luggage. It does not reach every district, and changing trains with suitcases at a busy station is hard work after a long flight.
Official Paris taxis from CDG charge a regulated flat fare to the city, but you queue at the rank and take whichever vehicle comes next. Shared shuttle buses stop at several hotels before yours.
